We spent a long weekend down in the New River Gorge area of West Virginia. This was our only visit to the great mountain state this year and we were blessed with really great weather for this time of year. We went down with Joe, John, Wendy, Betty and Bill and met up with many of their raft guiding friends from the Tennessee area. The days were spent out exploring and in the evenings we gathered around the campfire for a community dinner, beers, guitars, picking on those people who passed out early and storytelling.
Friday we rafted the New River with Ewok, guide extrordinaire. Wendy duckied it - epic, and John paddled his Burn. It was a perfect day on the river.
Saturday Joe, Jeanette and I headed down to Bubba City for some climbing. We did several of the area classics including Mrs Field's Follies, Crescendo, Decameron and Butterfly Flake. It was another perfect day.
We ended the trip on Sunday with the big finalie, paddling the Upper Gauly River. Insane - huge water with Ewok guiding us down again. We had a really great time.
