Concert Weekend

Great weekend.  Took a half day on Friday and hit up the lower section Octoraro River in MD with John, Jeanette and Bob.  Was flowing at around 2 feet and was a little boney, but we had a great time on a beautiful fall day enjoying a local river.

That evening Jeanette and I checked out a relatively new local music venue up in Kennet Square called the Kennet Flash.  We saw Diego Paulo a local Newark DE band with sort of a regae funk folk kind of sounds.  Really great.

Saturday we then went to the Fair Hill International right in our backyard over the MD border.  This is a cross country type of horse race with many types of jumps and water features.  Amazing what those animals can do.  We enjoyed the morning with Wendy and John.

In the evening we headed up to the Tin Angel in Philly to see Chris Smither, an excellent blues folk singer - Johnny Cash crossed with Bob Dylan.  It was an excellent show.

Sunday we went up to Kellys Run near lancast PA looking for Paw Paws with Will, Vanji, Wendy, and John.  None to be found, looks like we were late this year.  But we still enjoyed another absolutely gorgeous day out with friends.

Wild Wonderful West Virginia

We spent a long weekend down in the New River Gorge area of West Virginia.  This was our only visit to the great mountain state this year and we were blessed with really great weather for this time of year.  We went down with Joe, John, Wendy, Betty and Bill and met up with many of their raft guiding friends from the Tennessee area.  The days were spent out exploring and in the evenings we gathered around the campfire for a community dinner, beers, guitars, picking on those people who passed out early and storytelling.

Friday we rafted the New River with Ewok, guide extrordinaire. Wendy duckied it - epic, and John paddled his Burn.  It was a perfect day on the river.

Saturday Joe, Jeanette and I headed down to Bubba City for some climbing.  We did several of the area classics including Mrs Field's Follies, Crescendo, Decameron and Butterfly Flake.  It was another perfect day.

We ended the trip on Sunday with the big finalie, paddling the Upper Gauly River.  Insane - huge water with Ewok guiding us down again.  We had a really great time.
