The Garden

We've been getting a fair number of tomatoes this year from the garden, this year we did celebrity and Roma. Not bad considering they were completely neglected for 5 weeks. Plenty for everyone, including the largest tomato horn worm I've ever seen.  We had good luck with our potatoes as well. Most of our squash and cucumber died off early but we're making the most of what we got. I'm excited abouts next year as we will be able to try our asparagus - been waiting 2 years while the roots mature.

Lehigh River Weekend

Last weekend we hit up the Lehigh river for some whitewater paddling.  We had a quite the group, 10 of us.  Bob, Nick, Colin, Kathleen, Joe, John, Bill Steve, Jeanette and ,myself.  There hasn't been much rain this summer and so the dam release was lower then normal, only 600 cfs.  This made for smaller features, but still a really enjoyable time.  We paddled the upper section and this was Colin and Kathleen's first time.  They each paddled in style - Colin using the blue banana sit on top, perhaps one of the tippiest boats on the river and Kathleen in the bruiser yellow sit on top which plowed through any obstacle in its path.  The weather was a bit overcast, but that didn't stop us from having a great paddle.  We finished with pizza at Carmine's, one of our favorite places up there.  Then a group of us headed up to our cabin in the poconos to stay the night.

Susquhanna Weekend

We headed out to the Susquehanna this weekend to spend some time at the local crags with our friend Joe.  We first hit up safe harbor.  We climbed 3 routes including Super Slab (10d) - the first time I have lead this climb, and Autumn Arch (10b) a super stemming classic line.

The heat got to be a bit much so we headed out to the Susquehanna river crags near the Holtwood Dam. We climbed a route called funny enough Weekend Warrior, an overhanging block which is certainly one of the nicest line I've ever climbed and then played on some neat rocks Joe and company have been scoping out there lately for some deep water soloing.

Back to the beach...

Well for one of us. Before going back to school Aunt Jeanette is squeezing the most out of her summer vacation by going down to Atlantic City, NJ with Brigette, Ellie and Mitchell. Looks like they are having a great time.

Arcade fire

We went to the Man Music Center yesterday to see arcade fire last night. We went with our friend John and met up with Aunt Di and Holly. The show was absolutely amazing, that band can make some unbelievable noise. It was a great night of music with fun people in a beautiful venue.

Outer Banks

We just returned from Corolla NC after a week in the outer banks where we had an awesome time with our friends Mike, Amber, Will, Vanji, John and Wendy. The house was located 7 miles up the beach and required some fancy off road driving by Jeanette and others to get us safely there. The house was awesome, featuring a pool hot tub and access to remote beaches. Most days consisted of eating great food, drinking by the pool or ocean and playing any number of silly games in the sun. It was a great week shared with great people. Highlights of the trip included john rolling the ducky in the pool and his 13 summersaults, henna by Vanji, Wendy as the pedometer minute to win it champion, Amber's perfect 10 hand stands, Magyar's obstacle course running, will's wonderful wildlife truck tour and me with the virgin run of the panty hose minute to win it. The picture is of wild horses which roam the area from our balcony window. It was a great way to wrap up our big summer vacation. Back to the real world for me on Monday. Jeanette has another 3 weeks of vacation before returning to school.
