Zion narrows

Finally in the great outdoors up in Zion. We came up yesterday and did a couple dayhikes- weeping wall and emerald pools. Last night was a rough night sleep-not the luxury of Vegas beds. It was hot.  Today We are going out on a backcountry overnight trip in the virgin river narrows a slot canyon through Zion.

Redrocks

We spent the morning out at Red Rocks. We hit the black corridor area attempting to find shade from the desert heat.  Picture is of Wendy Kaylan and Jeanette holding Joey in the parking lot of red rocks. Jeanette helping Joe cool off.  Had a great time but bailed around lunch time due to the heat and headed back to the luxor for buffet lunch and hit the pool.

Hoover dam

We woke up his morning and met up with Joey and Kaylan for breakfast. Afterwards we took a drive out to the Hoover dam. Words can't describe the size of this thing and neither does any picture. Truly amazing. The weather is, well hot, it's the desert. We decided to head back to town and spend the afternoon at the pool of our next night hotel, the luxor. It was great. Now we are getting ready for dinner and heading to a Cirque de soleil show.

Vegas arrival

We made it in last night on a great flight-upgraded to first class. Shared Glenlivet while watching an awesome lightening storm out our window. By the time we made it to our hotel the travelodge, we were pretty beat and decided to call it a night.

The big trip

We are headed out west for a big vacation. Starting in Vegas we will be headed to red rocks, Zion, Yellowstone, Jackson hole/ grand Tetons, wind river range, moab / arches, maple canyon, Bryce and back to Vegas. From there we return to landenberg for an evening to then head to the outer banks with a group of friends for a week on the beach. We've been planning this for several months and today marks the beginning of the adventure.

New member of the family

When you drive as much as we do (or most Americans for that matter) a car is like a member of the family. The 4Runner was a beast, and we will miss her. Jeanette got a new Subaru Outback to take her place. This car will be better on gas and hopefully not lose too much of the SUV utility we had before. The happy new owner.
